In the meantime, we have provided answers to some of the more frequently asked questions about different plastic surgery procedures offered at our Vancouver area practice.

Body Contouring Questions

Can liposuction help me to get rid of cellulite?

There is no perfect solution for cellulite. Traditional liposuction in Vancouver can improve the appearance of some"trouble spots" by reducing the volume of fat in bulging areas, but it does not eliminate cellulite. Smartlipo™, which uses laser energy to heat and liquefy the fat before suctioning, can result in skin tightening in addition to removing excess fat, which can improve the appearance of cellulite. Dr. Mosher also offers the Velashape™ procedure, which is non-invasive and is clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite. For the best results, a combination of improved lifestyle, selective use of liposuction and Velashape treatments are considered.

Is it safe to combine more than one body contouring procedure?

It is not uncommon for patients to combine procedures, which can save on anaesthesia costs and allow for a single recovery period. At our centre near Vancouver, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is routinely combined with liposuction or breast augmentation in Vancouver for women who want to restore their pre-pregnancy figures. For most patients, there is no significant increase in risk associated with combining two procedures such as these.

Breast Enhancement Questions

How do I choose the size of implant that is right for me?

Dr. Mosher has years of experience helping women select breast implants, and he will draw from that experience to help you to determine what size and shape of implant will best achieve the results you want. You may choose to bring photos to your consultation, and you can also use Dr. Mosher's before and after photos for guidance and our online educational modules. The most important determinant in appropriate implant size choice is a careful measurement and assessment of your tissues done during your consultation. Our experienced staff will also assist you in the implant sizing process.

Are silicone implants as safe as saline?

The most recent studies have consistently provided reassuring evidence that silicone gel does not represent a measurable health risk. The newer, cohesive gel implants decrease the likelihood that the gel could spread or migrate in the case of implant rupture. The currently available cohesive silicone gel implants have been approved by Health Canada since 2001 and have been used safely in many other countries for more than 10 years.

Can I still breastfeed after breast surgery?

Most women will be able to breast feed successfully after having breast augmentation surgery. Breast augmentation surgery should not interfere with a woman's ability to breastfeed her child. Incisions that are made away from the nipple and areola should leave the milk glands and ducts intact and fully functional, and there is no statistical data indicating any negative impact of breast augmentation on breastfeeding. Larger breast augmentation , incisions near the nipple or combined breast lift and augmentation procedures are more likely to interfere with future breast function.

Facial Rejuvenation Questions

Does a face lift rejuvenate my entire face?

No. A traditional face lift addresses sagging, wrinkling and laxity in the lower half of the face. This procedure does not improve the signs of aging that occur in the forehead and eye area. Some of these concerns can be improved with BOTOX® Cosmetic, or in cases of more severe wrinkling and laxity, a brow lift or blepharoplasty .

Will my eyes look "pulled" or wide open after eyelid surgery?

An experienced plastic surgeon such as Dr. Mosher performs Vancouver blepharoplasty in such a way as to create a subtle, refreshed appearance. By eliminating just the right amount of skin, and making subtle alterations to the muscles, Dr. Mosher will leave you looking rested and alert, with results that look natural but noticeable.

How can I look younger without surgery?

Surgical and non-surgical solutions are considered for every client wanting to look their best. At Your Esthetic Solutions, Dr. Mosher will recommended a personalized strategy that may include BOTOX® Cosmeticfor dynamic lines and wrinkles, dermal fillers for lines and areas of lost facial volume, skin care and laser skin rejuvenation techniques to revitalize tired and sun damaged skin.
